For Vrijesh, sustainability isn’t simply a buzzword–it is a way of life, something that is enforced at every step of the way on a path towards a cleaner, greener, and Carbon neutral future.

Environmental Initiatives

Solar Powered Factories

Our journey towards sustainability takes a giant leap starting infrastructure: our solar-powered factories. We understand the immense impact of traditional energy sources on the environment, which is why we've invested in renewable energy solutions by installing state-of-the art Solar panels on the rooftops of our factories. At Vrijesh, we don't simply reduce our carbon footprint; we are paving the way for a more sustainable way of living.

This way of life isn’t simply limited to Energy- we realize that clean water is a precious resource, and we recognize our responsibility in its careful management. Our in-house  Effluent Treatment Plant employs a state-of-the-art three-stage process to ensure complete treatment, ensuring no untreated dyestuff leaves the factory, minimizing the impact of our operations on local water systems. Additionally, we practice rainwater harvesting, treat (audited) 100% of our water outlet and recycle 15% of water consumed. Lastly, we have adopted IOT in a highly sophisticated manner for heat and chemical mapping wit yearly reduction targets. further reducing our environmental footprint.

Chemical Management and Safety

We understand that responsible consumers seek transparency in the products they buy. Therefore, we have adopted best practices to create a transparent supply chain, ensuring that our customers can trace the journey of our products from raw material to finished goods.

Our commitment to good manufacturing practices (GMP) is highlighted by our our attainment of ZDHC Level 3 chemical compliance, wherein we use 100% compliant chemicals. This ensures the good health and safety of our employees, customers, and the environment.

Chemical Management and Safety

At our core, we prioritize artisanal production methods, honoring craftsmanship and environmental consciousness.

Through hand screen printing, we empower local artisans, providing meaningful employment while maintaining a nearly net-zero carbon emission process. Our commitment extends to space dyeing, a method with a remarkably low Mass:Liquid ratio. This not only ensures minimal wastage of dyes but also minimizes the impact on our environment.

Certifications That Matter

Fast Production, Slow Fashion

Sustainability at Vrijesh isn’t limited to our production: it is also underscored in the markets we serve: both domestically and internationally. For instance, the over-the-counter ‘taka’ market we serve in India, encourages us to sell fabrics at exactly 1.60 m cut lengths, which is optimum for crafting a shirt piece without any wastage. Even on the side of the consumer, who makes tailored garments from these fabrics, guarantees that lesser wastage of fabrics and a lower inclination to get rid of the garment sooner, ensuring a longer lifespan. Our stock and sell business ensures lower to no MOQs, which allows brands to purchase lower quantities, ensuring a lower wastage of resources.

As for our international markets, luxury upholstery in particular, wherein the end consumer hires an architect to make custom-made furniture first and then buys the fabric. The architect then has it cut so it's tailored to the furniture- again, ensuring minimal wastage. As for our accessories market, there is yet another elucidation of slow fashion. Since these accessories can be repeated on multiple outfits, giving a unique new look each time, our customers are inclined to buy less and repeat more.

Raw Material Responsibility

Our sustainability journey begins with the careful selection of raw materials. All of our Organic Linen is European Flax certified, which ensures that 100% of the Linen yarn is spun from flax grown only in the fields of France & Belgium, grown ethically. We also use Certified recycled Wool, GOTS cotton, and possess the Oeketex certification (learn more about all of our certifications below). By using sustainable raw materials, we ensure that the entire chain can be traced down to make sure ethical practices are abundant at every stage, right from the flax to the fabric.
